Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Diversity, equity, and inclusion have been foundational in my academic and professional work. As an artist, storyteller, and activist, I believe I have a responsibility to imagine and create a future where all of our stories are heard.
A future that allows all of us to show up as our authentic selves.
A future that sees all of our work and contributions equitably.
A future that is built not just on words, but actions.
The Alliance for the Future: Dismantling Bias and Racism in the School of Theatre

The Alliance is a collective that works to develop a deliberate and definable action plan to advance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion as strategic priorities within the School of Theatre. The collective is made up of undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, faculty, and staff. We invite the entire School of Theatre to all meetings and encourage their collaboration on agenda creation. The Alliance works to name the ways our policies and practices in the School of Theatre have been grounded in white supremacist culture, bias, sexism, racism, ableism, gender discrimination, homophobia, transphobia and sizeism. We hope to dismantle these oppressive structures and build a community where we are all seen and respected.

In the Classroom

I believe that theatre is a collaborative art that has the power to transform individuals, cultures, and societies. Similarly, I believe that education is a collaborative process that asks its participants, instructor and student alike, to embark on a transformative journey. Together, I believe we can foster an environment that transforms the classroom into a community where we may show up as our authentic selves, encourage one another to take risks, and learn from the expertise every person brings into our conversations.
